What this is

The documents step is where you upload files the client has shared, strategy decks, process documentation, org charts, contracts, existing technology assessments, that the AI will analyse as part of the overall audit. Document analysis extracts key themes, risks, and opportunities that surface in the analysis output.

Before you start

  • Gather the documents the client has shared or that you have collected during discovery.
  • Supported file types: PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, CSV. Maximum file size: 50 MB per file.
  • You need a valid API key configured in your workspace settings. Without it, the AI analysis of uploaded documents will fail.
  • Documents can be uploaded at any point before you trigger analysis.

Procedure

  1. Open your project and click Documents in the lifecycle stepper.
  2. Click Upload documents or drag and drop files into the upload zone.
  3. Wait for the upload confirmation. Each file shows a status indicator:
    • Uploaded, file received, not yet analysed.
    • Analysing, AI extraction in progress (up to 180 seconds per document).
    • Ready, analysis complete; document will be included in the next full analysis run.
    • Failed, analysis did not complete. See common issues below.
  4. Optionally add a label to each document (e.g. “IT strategy”, “process map”) to help the AI contextualise it.
  5. Repeat for all relevant files.
Document analysis runs automatically on upload. You do not need to trigger it manually. The results are incorporated when you run the full AI analysis step.

Limits and gating

  • Analysis timeout: Each document has a 180-second analysis window. Documents that exceed this are marked Failed and excluded from analysis.
  • Analysis limit: The number of documents analysed per project is gated by plan:
    • Solo: up to 10 documents per project.
    • Team: up to 25 documents per project.
    • Enterprise: unlimited.
  • File size: 50 MB per file. Files larger than this must be split before upload.
  • API key required: Document analysis calls the AI pipeline. If no API key is configured, all documents will fail analysis. Go to Settings → API Keys to configure one.

Common issues

No documents uploaded / I forgot to upload before running analysis. You can upload documents at any time and re-run the full analysis step to include them. Re-running analysis consumes additional credits. Document status is “Failed”, AI timeout (180s). The document likely contains dense content (large scanned PDFs, complex tables). Try splitting the document into smaller sections and re-uploading. If the problem persists with small files, contact support. “Analysis limit reached” error. You have hit the per-project document limit for your plan. Upgrade your plan, or remove documents that are no longer relevant before uploading new ones. “API key missing” error. Navigate to Settings → API Keys, add a valid key, and retry the upload. Existing uploaded (but unanalysed) documents will be queued for analysis once a key is added.
